• Lead clinical operations and harness the Clinical Team to inform organizational initiatives and systems-change work with healthcare organizations • Advise on early-stage program innovation from ideation through launch decisions • Manage and deploy clinician experts to healthcare organization partners and priority workstreams • Develop and execute operational plans aligned with organizational strategic and financial goals • Ensure clinical expertise informs initiatives from discovery through implementation • Assign clinical advisors to ad hoc and embedded workstreams • Develop prioritization, decision-making, and execution frameworks and tools • Design and oversee rapid-cycle clinical program enhancements • Lead innovation sprints testing tools, workflows, and setting-specific adaptations • Establish clinical guardrails to protect patient safety and medical standards • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate program updates into clinical workflows • Adapt clinical program elements for new healthcare environments • Partner with the VP of Strategy to develop and deploy pilots, provide clinical guidance, assess clinical ROI, and inform scaling decisions • Serve as senior clinical advisor at innovation and cross-functional forums • Advise teams during early exploration and planning of clinical opportunities • Cultivate internal and external stakeholder relationships • Manage clinical input, redesign, innovation requests, workloads, timelines, and risks • Partner with analysts to define and track clinical program metrics and integrate findings into operations • Identify and mitigate risks to program fidelity, impact, and resource usage • Recruit, onboard, schedule, and evaluate Clinical Strategy Team staff • Lead team meetings and facilitate change management • Manage clinical-team ideation, desk research, and opportunity screening • Oversee team capacity and professional development • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned
• MD, NP, or PA with 8–10+ years of clinical and leadership experience in clinical services or public health • Strong clinical background in contraceptive care and reproductive health equity • 8+ years of experience managing multidisciplinary clinical teams or complex healthcare projects • Demonstrated experience supporting innovation from ideation to implementation, including health service redesign, clinical product development, or innovation sprints • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop teams • Experience supporting teams through periods of change • Exceptional relationship-building and cross-functional leadership capabilities • Familiarity with project-management tools and frameworks • Experience managing large, multi-workstream initiatives • Superior communication skills for executive audiences • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-growth, collaborative environments • Commitment to Upstream’s mission, equity goals, and values • Experience with nonprofit or mission-driven organizations • Experience working with executive teams, boards, or senior decision-makers • Deep understanding of healthcare workflows in diverse settings, including FQHCs and large systems • Ability to navigate cross-functional environments and translate clinical needs for technical and operational audiences • Ability to identify and leverage generative AI tools, including LLMs, image generators, or industry-specific copilots • Proficiency in AI prompt engineering and evaluating AI-generated content • Foundational understanding of ethical AI, data privacy, and bias recognition • Comfortable participating in an on-camera culture during meetings • Ability to attend work-related in-person meetings and functions as needed • Willingness and ability to travel up to 25%
