📋 Description

• Design, build, and operate distributed backend systems for the recommendations pipeline and AI workflow execution engine • Own and harden AWS and Kubernetes infrastructure for the AI workflow platform • Improve reliability, observability, scalability, and failure recovery • Strengthen eventing, streaming, retries, backpressure, and recovery mechanisms • Reduce infrastructure single points of failure and share operational and on-call ownership • Design service and API boundaries • Write and optimize MongoDB data models and queries • Leverage AI tooling and build reliable systems on LLM-backed components • Partner with product engineers, PMs, and designers to ship end-to-end • Improve tested, observable, maintainable code and design documentation • Mentor engineers on backend and reliability practices

🎯 Requirements

• BA/BS degree or equivalent experience • Business-level fluency in English for reading, writing, and speaking • 5+ years of experience building and operating backend systems in production • Experience with scalable, multi-tenant SaaS preferred • Depth in distributed systems, including concurrency, asynchronous and eventually consistent processing, queues or streaming, and failure-oriented design • Strong Python and/or TypeScript/Node.js skills • Experience modeling data in MongoDB or a comparable database • Hands-on experience with AWS, containers, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and observability tools • Commitment to testing, documentation, and reliability • Ability to communicate technical and business trade-offs • Comfort with ambiguity and collaborative solution scoping • Mentoring experience or interest in mentoring earlier-career engineers • Proactive adoption and application of AI and emerging technologies • Workflow/orchestration engines, LLM-backed systems, and service reliability experience are bonuses
