📋 Description

• Oversee the operations of the Patient Benefit Advising call center across UMMG practice and Hospital Division entry points • Manage and direct the On-site Patient Access Financial Counseling team assisting patients with insurance benefits, self-pay responsibilities, and payment plans • Establish departmental goals, objectives, policies, and procedures • Set priorities and organize workflow to ensure smooth patient flow • Review subordinate work and productivity reports for timeliness and quality • Identify improvement opportunities and participate in quality improvement initiatives • Monitor Department Activity Reports and work queues to ensure patients are verified and financially cleared before service • Resolve operational, technical, and program-related work problems • Serve as the primary resource on insurance benefits, contracting, and financial counseling policies and procedures • Hire, evaluate, counsel, discipline, and train assigned team members • Identify training gaps and develop plans to address them • Assist with development, implementation, and monitoring of the annual operating budget • Perform other Patient Access-related duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• Undergraduate degree in business, finance, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required • Minimum 5 years of relevant healthcare management experience required • Extensive knowledge of insurance eligibility and benefits, contracting, and financial counseling • Knowledge of accounting, finance, and business management • Knowledge of pre-admission, billing, collection, third-party payer regulations, and self-pay balances • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and relevant computer applications • Ability to develop policies, procedures, processes, and programs to increase upfront collections • Ability to develop budgets and monitor expenditures • Ability to analyze data and interpret statistics, including trend analysis • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills • Ability to collaborate with managers, directors, leadership, patients, families, staff, and insurance payers
