📋 Description

• Lead and manage accounting team members by setting expectations, providing feedback, managing workload, ensuring consistent response times and delivering results • Advise the Shared Financial Services team on accounting practices and leadership development • Manage and oversee chapters’ financial needs, including bank/investment reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations, and creation/approval of journal entries • Review internal and external financial statements and ensure accurate, timely monthly close • Confirm that variances are documented and explained • Monitor chapter performance against budgets and national benchmarking metrics and inform chapter leadership of significant variances • Monitor chapter accounting activity to ensure revenue and payments comply with GAAP and Make-A-Wish policies • Use Salesforce to ensure appropriate coding and reporting of chapter revenue streams • Serve as primary liaison for an assigned portfolio of chapters and maintain relationships with chapter personnel and Boards of Directors • Provide reports, queries, and analysis regarding account activity, revenue, and expenses • Assist chapters with annual budget preparation • Act as key staff person in annual internal and external audit processes • Facilitate review and evaluation of time and use studies for allocating indirect chapter costs • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.; employment visas or other immigration processes are not sponsored • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field or equivalent experience required • Minimum of 3 years of experience in accounting and/or financial reporting required • Nonprofit accounting experience strongly preferred • Minimum of 2 years of people leadership experience preferred • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications required, including demonstrated expertise in Microsoft Excel • Experience in Salesforce and NetSuite strongly preferred • CPA designation a bonus • Working knowledge of nonprofit organizations helpful • Ability to thrive in a remote environment • Travel required, up to 10% • May require work outside a traditional Monday–Friday work week and outside normal business hours
