• Obtain insurance information from patients and counsel them on alternative financial assistance options • Communicate with physicians and clinical staff to assist with urgent or referred patient scheduling requests • Provide patient scheduling services, including collecting demographics and insurance registration • Review and update new-patient schedules when necessary • Call patients with appointment-time reminders and obtain insurance information and referral forms • Process internal physician referrals for clinical care • Explain billing processes to patients and staff • Answer incoming inquiries from patients and third-party payers • Assist with basic account maintenance activities • Assist patients with insurance questions regarding billing • Assist staff with reminder cards and other scheduling duties • Work Relatient patient-reminder system results and contact patients or make scheduling changes • Make daily edits and temporary changes to provider scheduling templates based on physician input • Schedule and register patients by phone or email without patient contact
• High school diploma or equivalent high school certification, or combination of education and/or experience • 3 years of relevant experience • No specific certification or professional license required • Driver’s license not required • Ability to obtain insurance information and referral forms • Ability to schedule and register patients by phone or email • Knowledge of billing processes, insurance questions, and financial assistance • Preferred knowledge of billing systems, Epic EHR, financial information, insurance, medical office support, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Word, scheduling, and third-party claims • Ability to perform the essential functions of the position satisfactorily • External candidates receiving an offer must complete applicable pre-employment screening
