• Support all clinical practice sites with billing and pre-arrival duties • Process billing charges accurately and timely • Review and follow up on billing, collections, insurance verifications, insurance authorizations, and referral record accuracy • Enter demographic and insurance/referral information into patient electronic medical records • Perform specialized duties with minimal supervision • Electronically fax required information for patient visit preparation • Verify daily billing charges and resolve outstanding financial work queue issues • Contact insurance companies and patients for benefit verification and therapy procedure pre-certification • Input, track, and verify physical therapy transactions • Respond to insurance company and other entity questions and requests • Obtain insurance information from patients and review medical records for accuracy • Supply documentation for pre-certification • Communicate with providers and referring physicians • Document and notify relevant parties when pre-certification is received • Review, follow up on, and reconcile pre-arrival, billing, patient, and financial work queues • Answer billing and insurance questions • Maintain required competencies and participate in in-services, staff programs, continuing education, and cross-training • Attend staff, clinic, and training meetings • Comply with OSHA and state and federal regulatory standards • Participate in quality improvement activities • Support clinical staff during peak times, vacations, and illnesses • Perform filing, faxing, copying, correspondence, and other assigned duties
• High school diploma or equivalent high school certification or combination of education and/or experience • 2 years of experience in a bookkeeping/accounting and/or medical collection setting • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite preferred • Experience or knowledge of Accounts Receivable (AR), claims resolution, collections strategies, computer literacy, confidential data handling, critical thinking, detail orientation, Epic EHR, health insurance billing, HIPAA, ICD-10 procedure coding, insurance follow-up, managed care, medical billing and coding, medical terminology, Medicare plans, Microsoft Office, multitasking, office equipment, organizing, teamwork, telephone communications, third-party payers, and working independently • No specific certification/professional license required • Driver's license not required
