📋 Description

• Initiate and facilitate the pre-determination process • Contact insurance companies for benefit verification and pre-certification of surgical and nonsurgical procedures • Notify the financial counselor for pre-payment of un-coded services • Supply documentation required during the pre-certification process • Maintain the daily surgery/procedure schedule for department faculty • Communicate with physicians and their assistants regarding schedules • Maintain a written log of pre-certifications in process • Notify the hospital utilization/billing department of pre-certification • Document receipt of pre-certification from insurance companies • Perform other duties as assigned

🎯 Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent high school certification, or combination of education and/or experience • 2 years of experience in a medical office setting • No specific certification or professional license required • Associate degree preferred • Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification preferred • Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certification preferred • Ability to perform essential job functions satisfactorily • Successful completion of required pre-employment screening, as applicable
