• Establish close relationships with patients and serve as their primary point of contact • Analyze market data to identify payer populations based on regional payer mix • Verify insurance benefits and coverage for obesity treatment • Maintain knowledge of insurance payer pre-certification requirements and review policy changes • Educate providers and staff on payer regulations to prevent denials • Identify resources and remove barriers to patient care • Coordinate appointments across service lines, laboratories, and diagnostic testing • Schedule and adjust patient appointments, make reminder calls, and manage the patient wait-list • Monitor assigned patients’ admissions, round daily, and assist with discharge appointment scheduling • Assist patients with filling prescriptions and assess cost and availability • Document patient information and obtain outside records • Engage family and community resources to address patients’ emotional, social, and financial needs • Collaborate with social services on financial assistance, entitlement programs, patient benefits, healthcare resource use, and clinical cost efficiency • Perform other department-specific duties as assigned
• Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Management, Public Health, or related field; or Associate’s degree in a related field plus two years of directly related experience; or high school diploma/equivalent plus four years of directly related experience • Three years’ experience in the healthcare field preferred • One year of experience in statistical data analysis preferred • Excellent interpersonal communication and negotiation skills • Ability to work with people of diverse social, economic, and cultural backgrounds • Flexibility, open-mindedness, and adaptability to change • Proficient in Microsoft Office • Ability to sit for extended periods of time • Ability to work in a standard office/clinical environment
