📋 Description

• Design, support, and optimize data systems powering critical environmental research for the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) • Ensure large volumes of environmental data are efficiently stored, managed, and delivered across modern cloud and hybrid environments • Develop scalable solutions supporting data orchestration, automation, and operational reliability • Manage PostgreSQL databases • Optimize SQL-based workflows • Support Python-driven automation and CI/CD processes • Ensure data integrity and improve system performance • Contribute to automation, scalability, and modernization of enterprise data environments • Work closely with federal stakeholders and technical teams • Support mission-driven environmental research and public service

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Information Technology; or at least 4 years of relevant experience accompanied by active IT certifications; or at least 8 years of experience in lieu of a degree • Experience writing efficient SQL • Experience managing PostgreSQL databases • Experience handling large datasets for accurate, high-performance data processing • Proficiency in Python for automating data workflows and improving data management efficiency • Experience with CI/CD practices • Experience automating database provisioning • Experience using GitLab or GitHub for version control and deployment workflows • Experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, and RDS • AWS and ArcGIS certifications are desired
