• Own the full merchandising function for a portfolio brand, including assortment strategy, vendor partnerships, catalog quality, pricing, margin, and promotional calendar • Set category and price-point assortment strategy and conduct continuous assortment gap analysis • Own SKU productivity and define the brand’s merchandising point of view • Source, pitch, and sign new drop-ship vendors • Negotiate commercial agreements covering cost, margin, freight, delivery, returns, damages, marketing funding, rebates, and exclusivity • Evaluate vendor operational costs and reset terms or exit underperforming relationships • Manage vendor service-level commitments, scorecards, and quarterly business reviews • Build and manage exclusive and co-developed product programs • Represent the brand at markets and trade shows • Own catalog quality, taxonomy, attribution, imagery, copy, dimensions, and lead-time accuracy • Normalize vendor feeds and partner with technology on scalable catalog systems • Partner with Site Merchandising and Marketing on category architecture, search relevance, collections, gifting, and seasonal moments • Own gross margin, pricing strategy, MAP/MSRP discipline, and vendor-funded promotions • Partner with Finance and the CEO on revenue and margin planning and report business performance • Automate recurring analysis and reporting with AI and roll out AI-enabled merchandising workflows • Model AI adoption and build AI-assisted capabilities for non-technical merchants • Validate AI output against source data and commercial logic • Build, mentor, and develop the merchandising team • Partner with Marketing, Site, Operations, Finance, and the CEO on company strategy
• 10+ years in merchandising, buying, or category management in retail or e-commerce, including direct people leadership • Demonstrated ownership of a revenue and gross margin number • Real vendor negotiation experience, including setting and resetting commercial terms • Fluency with product data and catalog management, including PIM or equivalent, taxonomy and attribution, and item setup at scale • AI fluency and hands-on experience with AI-assisted tools such as Claude, Copilot, or BI-native AI features • Experience connecting AI-assisted tools to live data sources such as a data warehouse or ERP • Strong analytical and financial instincts • Fluency in Excel and comfort with SQL or a BI tool • Ability to translate data into defensible decisions • Comfort operating independently in a lean team reporting to a CEO • Drop-ship or marketplace merchandising experience preferred • Home, furniture, or home decor category experience preferred • Employment contingent on a background check, including verification of prior employment dates • Must be willing and able to attend a mandatory in-person interview before receiving an offer
