• Own the development and ongoing improvement of the game’s UI systems and player-facing experiences • Design and implement robust, responsive UI features with Gameplay, Systems, Design, Art, and QA teams • Write clear, maintainable, performant, and well-documented code • Build UI for large-scale multiplayer gameplay, including dynamic gameplay states, player information, team communication, objectives, equipment, and real-time systems • Debug, profile, and optimize UI features across target platforms • Translate UI/UX designs and visual concepts into polished, functional game features • Establish and maintain UI programming standards, patterns, and best practices • Create and maintain technical documentation and communicate UI system capabilities, limitations, and constraints • Collaborate with the programming team to identify technical challenges and develop maintainable solutions • Improve UI tools, workflows, and development practices • Identify opportunities to improve UI usability, performance, reliability, and maintainability
• 3+ years of professional experience programming video games • 1+ years of professional experience developing game UI, ideally on a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team • At least 1 shipped game in a UI Programmer capacity • Solid understanding of game UI/UX principles and a genuine interest in creating intuitive player experiences • Experience taking UI features from concept through implementation, iteration, debugging, and polish • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills, with an ability to investigate complex technical issues independently • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with programmers, designers, artists, and QA • A high degree of self-motivation, ownership, and initiative • Comfortable researching unfamiliar technologies and systems • Strong proficiency in C++ • Proficient with Unreal Engine 5 • Proficient with Common UI, Lyra, Enhanced Input • Experience working on live service games post launch
