📋 Description

• Lead end-to-end system design for complex, high-scale backend platforms • Define architectural principles and engineering best practices • Make high-impact trade-off decisions involving scalability, performance, cost, and maintainability • Design efficient, evolvable data models • Design, develop, and maintain full-stack features across React/Angular frontends and Node.js microservices • Build and evolve RESTful and event-driven internal and external-facing APIs • Design MongoDB schemas, write efficient queries, and manage data at scale • Develop and maintain AWS SNS/SQS event-driven workflows • Instrument services with metrics, alerts, dashboards, and distributed tracing • Investigate and resolve complex bugs and production incidents end-to-end • Partner with product, design, and growth teams on acquisition, activation, and conversion initiatives • Contribute to experimentation and A/B testing efforts • Align technical decisions with business strategy and communicate trade-offs to stakeholders • Research and propose solutions to ambiguous engineering challenges • Plan and independently drive complex features from design through production • Participate in code reviews and architectural discussions • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers across the stack

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of professional full-stack development experience • Track record of leading system design on complex, high-scale platforms • Ability to define architectural principles and drive engineering best practices • Experience making high-impact decisions involving scalability, cost, performance, maintainability, speed, and reliability trade-offs • Strong data modeling skills • Strong proficiency in Node.js and production microservices • Experience with MongoDB schema design, indexing, aggregation pipelines, and query optimization • Hands-on experience with event-driven architectures, specifically AWS SNS and SQS or equivalent systems • Proficiency in React and/or Angular 2+ • Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as CloudWatch or Sentry • Experience writing unit, integration, and E2E tests • General understanding of AWS services such as S3, IAM, Lambda, or EC2 • Business-minded approach connecting technical work to company goals and customer outcomes • Excellent research and investigation skills • Strong problem-resolution mindset • Ability to independently own complex features from design through production • Strong communication skills and comfort working in a remote, async-friendly environment • Bonus: experience in InsurTech, FinTech, or regulated industries • Bonus: experience with growth engineering, experimentation, A/B testing, funnel analytics, or conversion optimization • Bonus: experience with agentic coding and AI-assisted development workflows such as Claude Code • Bonus: knowledge of Infrastructure as Code such as Terraform or AWS CDK • Bonus: CircleCI pipeline configuration experience • Bonus: application development from the ground up or large-scale migrations • Bonus: complex frontend component libraries • Bonus: open source contributions
