📋 Description

• Lead a small, senior, fully remote squad building and operating CloudLinux's Imunify Email product line • Own what the team ships, how reliably it runs, and how team members grow • Provide delivery leadership, technical direction, coaching, and incident command • Turn the product backlog into a sequenced engineering plan with estimates, dependencies, and a release train • Run weekly planning, release readiness, and status reporting • Own engineering quality gates for model releases, including catch-rate and false-positive measurements and rollback paths • Keep technical debt visible, funded, and included in the roadmap • Report delivery status and risks to engineering leadership weekly • Own email-stack architecture with the architecture group; review designs, write and approve ADRs, and make build-vs-buy decisions • Review critical-path code and designs involving mail flow, rate limiting, quarantine, and authentication • Set standards for tests, observability, and safe rollout • Own production health, including SLOs, alerting, capacity, and deliverability posture • Act as incident commander for product-impacting events and author post-mortems within 24 hours • Lead a distributed team through 1:1s, goal setting, performance reviews, and career development • Hire, conduct technical interviews, onboard, and mentor engineers • Establish async working agreements and durable written communication • Model and coach effective coding-agent use and AI-assisted engineering practices • In the first 30 days, own the release train and weekly status, trace messages through the stack, complete 1:1s, and assess team strengths and gaps • In the first 60 days, own on-call and incident command, publish SLOs and reliability risks, and land a non-trivial change • In the first 90 days, present an agreed technical roadmap with debt-paydown and staffing recommendations

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years as a software engineer • 2+ years leading a team of engineers in a product company • Strong Linux proficiency at a software engineer (user) level • Comfortable reading and reviewing production code in a modern high-level programming language (Python, Go, etc.) • Experience debugging live systems on the box • Track record of shipping and operating a distributed backend service under real production load • Experience carrying a pager and running incidents • Experience mastering a complex technical domain quickly and making credible architectural decisions • Practical fluency with observability and data tooling, such as Grafana, Kibana/Elasticsearch, Redash or equivalents • Demonstrated people leadership, including 1:1s, performance conversations, hiring, and growing engineers • Experience working in an agentic / AI-assisted development workflow • Understanding of ML-driven systems, including model quality evaluation, training, and production operations • Professional proficiency in English, written and spoken • Availability to work EU hours • Nice to have: Working knowledge of email infrastructure, including SMTP, SPF/DKIM/DMARC, rDNS, IP reputation and warm-up, RBLs, and feedback loops • Nice to have: Experience with open-source mail stacks such as Rspamd, SpamAssassin, Postfix, Exim, and Halon, or the web hosting ecosystem • Nice to have: Exposure to the ML model lifecycle, including training data quality, evaluation metrics, and tuning detection systems • Nice to have: Experience running incident and escalation management with external partners
