📋 Description

• Lead the team building and operating CloudLinux’s email security product line, covering inbound anti-spam filtering and outbound SMTP gateway services • Turn the product backlog into a sequenced engineering plan with estimates, dependencies, and a reliable release train • Run weekly planning, release readiness, and quantitative status reporting • Own engineering quality gates for detection-model releases, including catch-rate and false-positive measurement and rollback paths • Keep technical debt visible, funded, and represented in the roadmap • Report delivery status and risks to engineering leadership weekly • Own email-stack architecture with the architecture group, including design reviews, ADRs, and build-versus-buy decisions • Review critical-path code and designs covering mail flow, rate limiting, quarantine, and authentication • Set standards for testing, observability, and safe rollouts • Own production health, SLOs, alerting, capacity, and sending-infrastructure deliverability • Act as incident commander, coordinate remediation, inform partners, and author post-mortems within 24 hours • Lead a distributed team through 1:1s, goal setting, performance reviews, and career development • Hire, interview, onboard, and mentor engineers • Establish async-working agreements and durable written communication • Model and coach effective use of coding agents and AI-assisted engineering workflows • Partner with the Product Owner to deliver priorities and escalate scope-versus-capacity conflicts • Own the release train, on-call, incident command, reliability risks, and technical roadmap during the first 90 days

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years as a software engineer • 2+ years leading a team of engineers with people responsibility in a product company • Strong hands-on Linux background • Comfortable reading and reviewing production code in Go and/or Python • Ability to debug live systems on the box • Track record of shipping and operating a distributed backend service under real production load • Experience carrying a pager and running incidents • Ability to master complex technical domains quickly and make credible architectural decisions • Practical fluency with observability and data tooling, including Grafana, Kibana/Elasticsearch, Redash, or equivalents • Demonstrated people leadership, including 1:1s, performance conversations, hiring, and growing engineers • Experience working in an agentic or AI-assisted development workflow, or clear appetite to lead one • Professional proficiency in written and spoken English • Availability to work EU hours • Nice to have: working knowledge of SMTP, SPF/DKIM/DMARC, rDNS, IP reputation and warm-up, RBLs, and feedback loops • Nice to have: experience with Rspamd, SpamAssassin, Postfix, Exim, Halon, cPanel/WHM, or other control panels • Nice to have: exposure to ML model lifecycle, training-data quality, evaluation metrics, and detection-system tuning • Nice to have: experience running incident and escalation management with external partners
