• Provide direct line management to the People Officer, supporting professional growth, workload management, and objectives • Coach and guide the People Officer on HR cases, employee relations, and systems • Ensure consistently high-quality People team support for staff worldwide • Oversee employee lifecycle processes including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, learning and development, and offboarding • Lead the use of digital and AI-enabled tools to streamline, automate, and improve HR processes, data management, and reporting • Own employee relations outcomes and advise managers on disciplinary, grievance, performance, absence, wellbeing, and policy matters • Make decisions on complex and sensitive cases and keep senior leadership informed on higher-stakes matters • Develop systems, tools, and guidance that help managers handle people matters consistently • Monitor HR and employment law developments, particularly across Asia, and recommend actions • Own Ember’s HR policy framework and ensure legal compliance across regions • Oversee Employer of Record providers and HR/benefits partners • Ensure HR data and records are accurate, secure, and compliant with data protection requirements • Embed Ember’s values across remote and cross-cultural teams • Lead employee engagement, wellbeing, retention, learning and development, career pathways, and succession planning initiatives • Support positive, inclusive, equitable, and diverse team cultures • Analyse HR data and feedback to improve employee experience • Work with the Operations Manager and COO to establish People priorities • Support organisational design and workforce planning • Provide HR metrics and analysis to senior management, including turnover, engagement, absence, and diversity
• Recognised mid-level HR qualification or equivalent professional experience, such as CIPD Level 5, SHRM-CP, PHR, IHRP-CP, CPHR, HKIHRM membership, or a relevant HR degree • Demonstrable track record operating at a senior, strategic HR level, shaping people strategy and policy • Deep applied knowledge of employment law and HR practice across Asian jurisdictions • Experience as the most senior or sole HR practitioner in an organisation, region, or business unit • Experience using AI-enabled digital tools to improve, automate, or streamline HR processes, with understanding of opportunities and risks • Track record managing complex employee relations cases end to end, including disciplinary, grievance, absence management, and performance concerns • Demonstrable experience developing and implementing HR policies and procedures • Proven line management and development of HR professionals • Ability to analyse HR metrics, identify trends, and make recommendations • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills • High emotional intelligence, resilience, confidentiality, and integrity when handling sensitive matters • Strong organisational and project management skills • Advanced or postgraduate HR qualification or chartered HR membership preferred • Experience in a remote-first, international, or non-profit organisation preferred • Familiarity with payroll, benefits, and employment practices across multiple jurisdictions preferred • Experience leading L&D strategy or career development frameworks preferred • Working knowledge of HRIS and data-driven HR practices preferred • Experience using or implementing AI-driven or digital HR systems preferred
