📋 Description

• Own data quality and freshness monitoring across source data, pipelines, and reports • Detect upstream schema and source changes before downstream breakage and run incidents to resolution • Build and maintain data lineage and impact-analysis processes from production sources through warehouse models to dashboards • Establish data contracts with engineering so breaking changes are caught during change review • Administer Lightdash, including workspace structure, permissions, certification, naming, rollout, enablement, query performance, and warehouse cost control • Extend and govern the semantic layer with one official definition per metric • Govern Segment event tracking, including the event catalog, naming, property dictionary, review lifecycle, and drift detection • Govern AI data access and keep the warehouse documented, consistent, legible, and safe for AI agents • Manage data security and privacy, including access controls, PII handling, retention under US state privacy laws, and periodic access reviews • Build documentation, ownership models, and review loops for a scalable governance system • Scale AI-powered freshness monitoring, anomaly detection, and dbt lineage checks • Achieve Year 1 goals including eliminating incidents from unannounced source changes and stale dashboards, retiring Tableau and Metabase, ensuring Segment event ownership and standards, and creating governance processes that operate without heroics

🎯 Requirements

• Genuine interest in data governance and making data systems trustworthy and tidy • Daily use of AI tools such as Claude Code, Copilot, and ChatGPT for quality checks, automation, anomaly triage, and documentation • Hands-on senior experience writing SQL, debugging Airflow DAGs, and configuring permissions • Automation-first approach to recurring checks • Ability to enforce standards across engineers and analysts without direct management authority • Hands-on depth in the warehouse and pipeline layer • Credible experience keeping a BI tool and tracking plan healthy at company scale • Experience with Redshift, dbt, Airflow, Segment, Lightdash, Tableau, Metabase, Claude Code, Codex, Brain, and observability tooling is relevant to the role • No formal education requirement stated
