📋 Description

• Shape the future architecture and systems by collaborating closely with Principal Engineers to ensure scalability, reliability and modern standards. • Work across diverse codebases and systems, primarily in PHP (WordPress) and JavaScript/TypeScript, while also engaging with other languages and technologies as needed. • Build and enhance tools that empower and streamline workflows for colleagues in the newsroom. • Uphold high standards of engineering, ensuring applications and infrastructure follow best practices in performance, security, and maintainability. • Mentor and support teammates, sharing expertise while learning from colleagues with complementary skills. • Drive continuous improvement, contributing ideas and solutions that make a lasting impact on products and engineering culture.

🎯 Requirements

• Deep understanding of PHP, WordPress and best practises • Hands-on experience with JavaScript/TypeScript, React/Gutenberg block editor development. • Hands-on experience with writing automated tests using PHPUnit, Jest. • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal • Knowledge of Amazon Web Services (AWS) (maybe less needed now) • Experience with modern developer tooling (e.g. containerisation, CI/CD, version control) • Leading and nurturing developers of different abilities • Long-term, full-time employment
