📋 Description

• Produce the assigned stream of German payroll accurately, compliantly, and on time each period • Process and check payroll master data, including new hires, terminations, salary changes, variable pay, benefits, absences, and garnishments • Run pre- and post-payroll validations and flag issues before they reach team members, customers, or Finance • Handle statutory filings and accesses, including Lohnsteueranmeldung, SV-Meldungen, Jahresmeldung, U1/U2 claims, and ELStAM data • Maintain payroll system procedures and test legislative updates as directed • Apply German wage tax, social insurance, labor law, and collective agreement knowledge • Check payroll journals and General Ledger mappings against payroll outputs • Handle assigned client payroll tickets and escalate issues beyond scope • Prepare statutory and ad-hoc reports, including pay transparency, works council, and GDPR-related documentation • Provide data and documentation for internal and external audits • Follow SOPs, identify process gaps, share knowledge, and support peers and the payroll knowledge base

🎯 Requirements

• 1–3 years running native, in-house German payroll processes and independently handling a defined monthly payslip volume • Hands-on DATEV processing experience • Completed Kaufmännische Ausbildung, such as Steuerfachangestellte/r, and/or Lohnbuchhalter qualification • Working knowledge of German wage tax, social insurance, and labor law • German at C1/C2 level for interaction with local authorities • Fluent English for collaboration with the asynchronous global team • Ability to handle client queries and escalate matters beyond scope with clear context • Careful, detail-oriented approach with thorough self-checking and issue identification • Ability to navigate ambiguity within the assigned workstream and escalate outside-scope matters • Willingness to share knowledge and support peers • Comfortable working largely asynchronously in a fast-paced, remote-first environment
