📋 Description

• Take full ownership of backend features from scoping through to production, keeping the team informed on progress, risks, and blockers. • Design and deliver backend services handling real payment volume, focusing on reliability, performance, and correctness at scale. • Contribute to architecture discussions, bring proposals to the engineering council, and advocate for clear service contracts and maintainable system design. • Monitor the production impact of work, identify issues early, and drive incidents to resolution. • Write high-quality, production-ready code with well-considered error paths. • Contribute to Primer’s engineering standards and help maintain a consistent quality bar. • Collaborate with Orchestration engineers on scoping, code reviews, and technical decisions. • Build infrastructure for intelligent, seamless, and reliable payments across providers, methods, and markets.

🎯 Requirements

• Solid backend engineering experience and ability to deliver production-ready software from ambiguous requirements with minimal direction. • Strong grasp of distributed systems fundamentals. • Comfortable working with REST APIs and patterns for reliable, observable, understandable services. • Experience owning work end to end, including monitoring, rollout, and post-deployment operations. • Confidence contributing to architecture discussions and challenging unsound design decisions. • Experience in payments, fintech, or infrastructure is a plus. • Ability to operate effectively in a remote-first environment and resolve ambiguity independently. • Ability to thoughtfully manage technical complexity.
