• Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, leading day-to-day communications and ensuring alignment with their goals and expectations • Develop and execute strategic communications plans, messaging, and campaigns with a focus on public policy • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with journalists, editors, and influencers, with a preference for those in the Midwest • Proactively pitch and secure earned media coverage at the local, state, and national levels • Write and edit press releases, op-eds, talking points, and other content with clarity and precision • Identify and promote opportunities for thought leadership, expert commentary, and brand visibility • Plan and manage media events, press conferences, and public announcements • Coordinate with internal teams on creative, web, social media, and advertising projects • Manage, mentor, and guide account teams to ensure quality control, timely deliverables, and strategic execution
• Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, political science, or a related field • Minimum of five years of relevant experience in public affairs communication • Strong media relationships and proven ability to secure impactful coverage, with a preference for experience working with Midwest media outlets • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills • Strategic thinker with a proven ability to navigate fast-paced, evolving situations • Experience in crisis communications and issues management • Leadership and team management experience are strongly preferred • Location in the Midwest is preferred
