📋 Description

• Solve complex technical problems across core systems and integrations with related platforms • Contribute senior-level technical judgment to modernization initiatives and legacy-to-modern platform migrations • Pilot and evaluate AI-assisted development tools, models, and techniques against real delivery work • Propose and champion AI use cases using measured comparisons such as time saved, defect rate, or review burden • Update team norms, playbooks, and tooling recommendations based on AI adoption learnings • Apply platform architecture, history, and constraints to technical decisions • Direct AI coding tools and agents to implement features from specifications, tickets, or requirements • Own end-to-end feature delivery from specification through production • Review, test, and correct AI-generated code for correctness, security, and architectural fit • Scrutinize AI-suggested dependencies and code affecting authentication, data access, or external integrations • Write detailed specifications for AI implementation and decide when to escalate ambiguous issues • Maintain and extend evaluation and guardrail practices to prevent AI-introduced regressions • Independently evaluate AI-assisted development tools, primarily Claude Code • Recommend and refine engineering practices with substantial autonomy • Share and teach AI-assisted development practices, including code review norms, prompting, and verification • Operate as an individual contributor and drive adoption through technical expertise and collaboration • Potentially lead or contribute to cross-team standards for responsible AI tool usage • Participate in the engineering support rotation • Lead or contribute to a modernization effort or comparable initiative as the role matures

🎯 Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible software engineering experience • Object-oriented and/or functional programming fundamentals • Data modeling and query performance reasoning across relational and/or schema-driven data layers • API design fundamentals, including contracts, versioning, and backward compatibility • Security fundamentals, including authentication/authorization flows, common injection classes, and dependency risk • Distributed systems fundamentals, including failure modes, statelessness, and behavior under concurrent load • Experience with a backend language/runtime such as Node.js (NestJS), Java, or comparable OOP/functional stack • Experience with GraphQL or REST, including schema design and versioning • Experience with React or comparable component-based frontend framework • Experience with PostgreSQL or comparable relational database • Experience with AWS and Kubernetes or comparable cloud-native infrastructure • Demonstrated, hands-on production use of Claude Code or comparable AI-assisted coding tool • Track record of piloting an AI-assisted development tool or technique and measuring its actual impact • Ability to critically evaluate AI-generated code and provide an example of catching an AI-generated error before shipment • Working knowledge of AI-specific security risks and related production safeguards • Strong engineering fundamentals independent of AI tooling • Ability to work from ambiguous specifications and exercise sound judgment • Experience working across a mixed legacy and modern technology stack • Experience owning delivery end to end, from specification through production • Bachelor's degree in computer or data science, software engineering, artificial intelligence, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience • Visa applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship • Finalists subject to a criminal background check as a condition of employment
