📋 Description

• Lead development of political and policy strategies to accelerate the transition to 100% clean energy and electrified transportation • Identify future venues for policy and political success in targeted states • Manage a geographically dispersed advocacy team and lobbyists • Develop and implement short- and long-term strategies across legislative, regulatory, and administrative venues • Work with members to develop consensus on policy positions • Facilitate member calls and lead policy discussions • Ensure high-quality member engagement through decision-maker engagement, lobby days, candidate education, earned media, and expert testimony • Participate in legislative, rulemaking, and administrative processes • Build relationships with coalition partners, philanthropy, allies, and government staff • Represent United to funders and member prospects and help raise funds • Develop relationships with regional decision-makers and understand regional levers of power • Travel up to 30% to targeted states for advocacy days, conferences, stakeholder meetings, staff development, and other United business

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor’s and/or Advanced degree; Political Science, Public Policy, or Economics preferred, or applicable comparable experience • Minimum of ten years of professional experience in public policy, with a portion of that engagement in the clean energy or transportation sector • Experience managing a team in a remote environment • Viewed as a subject matter expert in a specific focus area • Political campaign or organizing experience, preferably in the clean energy advocacy space • Entrepreneurial approach, flexible attitude, and ability to operate independently • Ability to engage members, customers, and funders and sell United and its value proposition • Ability to lead, motivate, and develop an internal team and work collaboratively across project teams • Excellent written and verbal interpersonal and communication skills • Intellectual curiosity, inquisitive nature, excellent listening, and problem-solving skills • Ability to manage a project budget and financials • Strong work ethic, demonstrated initiative, and commitment to achieving goals • Must reside in the United States
