📋 Description

• Support the Railroad Commission of Texas on the Mainframe Transformation project • Perform complex Microsoft SSIS development, documentation, and related project and operational work within Information Technology Services • Move critical agency data between Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases through SSIS and Oracle SQL/PL-SQL automation • Design and manage database systems, data warehouses, and ETL data interfaces • Review proposed system changes and provide technical guidance to technical and non-technical staff • Develop automated ETL solutions using Microsoft SSIS and Oracle platforms • Analyze application functionality and project requirements to develop technical specifications for ETL functionality • Determine database requirements by analyzing business operations, applications, programming, business objectives, and current systems • Establish development standards for coding, documentation, and testing • Communicate and collaborate with business stakeholders to coordinate development efforts • Lead development and maintenance of organized, complete, audience-appropriate documentation • Ensure project schedules are met or renegotiated and approved before target dates • Communicate progress and issues affecting assignments to management or the Project Manager • Follow established change management and code migration processes • Mentor junior staff in development, testing, and deployment • Review application database change requests, determine downstream effects on warehouse ETLs, and consult the Data Dictionary for dependencies • Work under general supervision with moderate latitude for independent judgment • May assign, review, or supervise the work of others

🎯 Requirements

• 6 years of experience in a medium to large information technology environment, with increasing responsibility for development, design, and deployment activities • 6 years of experience using Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) • 4 years of experience using Microsoft Azure DevOps and Git, emphasizing deployment, version control, and project tracking • 5 years of experience with Microsoft Office tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, and SharePoint • 4 years of experience with Oracle databases, including 2 years with Oracle version 12c • 4 years of experience using Microsoft SQL Server • 2 years of experience with Microsoft Azure Cloud database services • 2 years of experience with database object migration and validation tools • 2 years of experience with ETL development, monitoring, and batch or automated scheduled data processing • 2 years of knowledge of database structures and theories • 2 years of experience with enterprise information management processes and methodologies, relational database management systems, and metadata management • 2 years of knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations related to personally identifiable information (PII), data management, and data governance • 2 years of general knowledge of technology across all network layers and computer platforms • 2 years of experience with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and project plan development • 2 years of experience communicating complex technical information clearly and concisely, orally and in writing, to diverse audiences • 2 years of experience working in fast-paced, changing environments, meeting project deliverables and deadlines, exercising sound judgment, and analyzing complex information to develop plans • Skill in interpersonal relationships, including working under pressure, negotiating among multiple parties, resolving conflicts, and maintaining effective working relationships • 2 years of hands-on experience with the RRC LoneSTAR application, SSIS bridge, and related databases • Candidates must satisfy criminal background checks as authorized by Texas law • Must be able to obtain pre-approval for work beyond 40 hours per week • May be required to work outside normal business hours, including weekends, evenings, and holidays • Preferred: 5 years of experience with ETL development and data warehouse monitoring • Preferred: 5 years of development experience using Oracle or Microsoft SQL Server, SQL, systems analysis, and systems design, or related IT experience • Preferred: 5 years of SSIS development experience • Preferred: 5 years of Microsoft Azure Cloud database development experience • Preferred: 5 years of Microsoft Azure DevOps and Git experience • Preferred: 2 years of Informatica or similar ETL tool knowledge • Preferred: 2 years of knowledge of master data, metadata, reference data, data warehousing, and business intelligence principles and processes • Preferred: 2 years of experience with data-focused projects, such as legacy-system migration • Preferred: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in data processing, computer science, business administration, or a related field
