Alkami Technology is a digital banking software company that provides a cloud-based Digital Sales & Service Platform for banks and credit unions. Alkami serves financial institutions (retail and business customers) and offers integrations, developer tools, and implementation support to drive deposit growth, reduce churn, and improve operational efficiency.

📋 Description

• Lead investigation, troubleshooting, and resolution of complex reliability issues in the MANTL platform application code. • Set direction for identifying and addressing failure modes across third-party and internal integrations. • Own the design and evolution of monitoring, dashboards, and alerting strategy across the platform. • Establish standards and lead distributed tracing implementation across microservices. • Diagnose and remediate application performance issues involving caching, inefficient code paths, and query performance. • Set direction for fault-injection, resilience testing, and defensive design practices. • Own and improve the GitHub Actions CI/CD build pipeline architecture. • Guide deployment and troubleshooting of Kubernetes workloads. • Define, prioritize, and execute a roadmap of known reliability risks independently of feature timelines. • Establish documentation and runbook standards for reliability issues, root causes, and remediations. • Serve as senior escalation point for complex platform reliability issues across engineering domains. • Define SLOs and SLIs for key platform services and advise leadership on reliability risks and tradeoffs. • Provide technical mentorship and guidance to Platform Engineers.

🎯 Requirements

• 7 to 10 years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, or a hybrid development/reliability engineering role • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience • Deep proficiency in TypeScript and significant production experience in a Node.js/TypeScript service environment • Strong hands-on experience deploying, operating, and troubleshooting containerized workloads in Kubernetes • Experience designing, building, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines; GitHub Actions preferred • Experience designing monitoring, dashboard, and alerting strategy in an APM/observability tool; Datadog preferred • Deep experience troubleshooting distributed-system and microservice communication failures across varied integration points and protocols • Strong experience with distributed tracing tools and practices at scale • Working familiarity with relational databases for diagnosing complex query and schema-level performance issues • Proven track record resolving application performance issues involving caching, inefficient code paths, and slow queries • Experience designing and leading failure-mode testing, fault injection, and resilience/chaos-style testing • Experience driving defensive patterns such as idempotency, retries, and circuit breakers • Ability to work independently on ambiguous, high-impact reliability problems and set technical direction • Excellent communication skills for presenting technical root cause, risk, and remediation plans to technical and non-technical leadership • Experience mentoring other engineers • Candidates must be eligible to work in the US for full-time employment • Preferred: experience with Kafka or event-streaming platforms • Preferred: experience with OpenTelemetry or comparable tracing frameworks • Preferred: experience in a regulated or compliance-driven environment • Preferred: familiarity with Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code tooling • Preferred: experience partnering with infrastructure/SRE teams • Preferred: experience influencing engineering roadmap prioritization
