📋 Description

• Embed with Labs/R&D during invention and specification to model products, capture risks, and identify questions before coding • Design and execute chartered, time-boxed exploratory testing sessions and lead structured debriefs • Investigate critical failure modes involving multi-tenant isolation, configuration interaction, concurrency, lifecycle transitions, integration timing, observability, and long-horizon policy behavior • Model risk using the Heuristic Test Strategy Model and maintain a living risk catalogue • Report bugs, risks, questions about intent, and obstacles to testing • Maintain coverage and testability maps • Practice bug advocacy and drive important findings toward resolution • Partner with Product, Labs, and Engineering in Example Mapping and Specification-by-Example workshops • Analyze and advocate for system testability, observability, controllability, and trustworthy test oracles • Identify gaps in automated checks and route improvements to automation and specification-test backlogs • Build tools for data generation, state manipulation, comparison, log and trace mining, high-volume testing, and oracle construction • Investigate AI-generated code, tests, and agentic workflow output • Help teams interpret dashboards and automated-check results accurately • Coach Quality Engineers, SDETs, engineers, and product managers • Produce the testing story supporting release and Labs-to-Engineering transition decisions • Contribute evidence and risk narratives to release readiness, promotion gates, rollback validation, and canary strategy • Supply failure hypotheses to performance, resilience, accessibility, security, and chaos-testing efforts • Strengthen testing records for regulators and auditors and escalate compliance findings

🎯 Requirements

• 10+ years of demonstrated experience with progressively increasing responsibility in software testing and test automation • Serious testing practice focused on investigating products, not only verification • Fluency in modeling, model-based coverage, oracles, heuristics, chartering, note-taking, test framing, safety language, and bug advocacy • Rapid Software Testing, BBST, or equivalent grounding is valued but not stated as required • Deep risk-analysis ability to produce plausible, specific, and arguable failure stories • Experience with decision logic and configuration-driven behavior, including rules engines, eligibility or underwriting logic, pricing or calculation engines, and multi-tenant configuration variation • Track record of finding issues missed by green automated suites and explaining the investigation • Experience building an organizational testing capability as a consultant, coach, or practice lead • Exceptional written communication for engineers, executives, auditors, and regulators • Influence without formal authority and ability to deliver unwelcome findings constructively • Comfort with agentic AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, and Copilot • Must reside in the contiguous 48 United States • Must address U.S. employment eligibility and visa sponsorship requirements • Willingness to demonstrate work through session notes, a bug report, or a test strategy
