Cari Network is a permissioned, blockchain-based payments and settlement platform that issues tokenized deposits called "Cari"—digital tokens representing U. S. dollar customer deposits held at chartered banks. The network is built to enable always-on, programmable, on-chain money movement that integrates with bank systems, preserves regulatory protections of underlying deposits (including FDIC insurance eligibility within limits), and connects traditional banking infrastructure with decentralized finance participants.

📋 Description

• Build critical paths and reference implementations, write production code in most sprints, review important changes, own at least one product capability, and ship in it • Define service boundaries, API contracts, data models, and tenancy patterns for a scalable banking platform • Lead the RFC process and design reviews; make architecture decisions within agreed guardrails and document durable decisions • Own the B2B bank API contract, including versioning, idempotency, exactly-once semantics, webhook guarantees, rate limiting, fairness, and environment parity • Own wallet architecture across multi-tenant SaaS and on-premises deployment models, including identity integration, tenant isolation, and secure embedding • Design transaction state machines, failure handling, reconciliation, and drift detection between off-chain and on-chain balances • Set measurable resilience, performance, disaster recovery, and security targets and deliver them with Engineering • Lead bank architecture walkthroughs, security questionnaires, due-diligence reviews, and integration patterns for banking platforms • Lead secure development through threat modeling, penetration-test remediation, SOC 2 evidence, and software supply-chain controls in CI • Mentor principal and senior engineers and set standards for AI-assisted development • Report to the VP of Engineering, Banking and partner with Platform Engineering

🎯 Requirements

• Fintech or banking experience is required • 12+ years building production systems, with significant time on payments, money movement, core or digital banking, or other regulated financial platforms • Hands-on production experience with Kafka, Restate, Redis, AWS EKS, and Terraform • 3+ years as a hands-on architect or principal engineer • Record of designing platforms that scaled across many institutional customers • Shipped both a partner-facing API platform (B2B) and a white-labeled or embedded customer-facing product delivered through partners (B2B2C, multi-tenant) • Deep TypeScript/Node.js and PostgreSQL experience; comfortable reviewing and unblocking React work • Strong command of idempotency, sagas and outbox patterns, state machines, ledgers, and reconciliation • Experience with OAuth 2.0/OIDC, mutual TLS, API key and secret rotation, signed webhooks, and OWASP practices • Experience with bank vendor due diligence, SOC 2, or similar regulatory and security scrutiny • Experience designing for instrumentation, failure modes, and runbooks • Clear written communication; experience writing RFCs and bank-facing architecture documents • Nice to have: ACH, wires, RTP, FedNow, core or digital banking integrations, blockchain, embedded SDKs, iframe or web-component delivery, white-label theming, or leading an architecture practice at an early-stage fintech
