📋 Description

• Identify the problems limiting business velocity and advocate for and drive solutions through with system owners • Lead projects end to end, delegate for team growth, unblock contributors, and own team output • Set engineering direction with technical leaders and define tools, libraries, and practices across departments • Build measurements and document alternatives and trade-offs when data does not exist • Share designs early and document decision rationale and unknowns • Ship code on the team's hardest problems and review code promptly • Own production reliability, operability, observability, recovery, and long-term system health • Take immediate ownership of production incidents, communicate clearly, drive fixes, and review systems and decisions • Integrate AI reliably into engineering workflows and define appropriate trust and verification standards • Represent engineering to internal and external customers as a technology leader • Coach engineers through direct and empathetic feedback and challenging assignments • Evaluate candidates and uphold the engineering hiring bar

🎯 Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field • Expert level in using AI coding tools such as Claude, Gemini, Copilot, Cursor, Windsurf, and Codeium • Code and designs must be correct, tested, secure, and maintainable • Experience identifying and solving business-critical technical problems • Ability to drive technical direction with evidence-backed ideas • Ability to build measurements and evaluate alternatives and trade-offs • Ability to design systems openly and document decisions and unknowns • Ability to ship and review code on difficult technical problems • Ability to own production reliability, operability, observability, recovery, and long-term health • Ability to respond to production incidents and drive root-cause fixes • Ability to use AI throughout engineering work and ensure its output is reviewed and verified appropriately • Ability to represent engineering to internal and external customers • Ability to coach and grow engineers • Ability to evaluate engineering candidates against a consistent hiring bar • Ability to surface risks, slips, and mistakes promptly with a proposed way forward • Ability to engage technical disagreements constructively • Ability to manage technical debt with documented costs and repayment plans • Openness to learning and applying new knowledge • Bonus: Delivered AI or automation projects with measurable impact • Bonus: Experience thriving in a high-growth startup • Bonus: Ability to translate between product, clinical, and executive communication • Bonus: Reputation for turning troubled projects around
