• Maintain the CBP policy library, including document intake, indexing, version control, and archiving superseded material • Provide customer service to the Security Operations Division on policy searches and research inquiries • Conduct independent research and analysis to support development of new policy • Validate references and authorities cited in policy documents • Determine whether expiring policy remains relevant, requires revision, or should be sunset • Create and track routing sheets through review, concurrence, and final approval • Assist with web content management by posting, updating, and organizing policy content on CBP sites • Format documents into CBP-approved formats using Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat Pro • Create presentations depicting workflows, processes, and organizational charts using Microsoft PowerPoint • Proofread and copy edit directives, handbooks, SOPs, memoranda, and briefing products • Maintain working knowledge of guidelines, regulations, policies, and handbooks pertinent to CBP activities
• Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing or a related field is required • Minimum of 5 years of relevant technical writing/editing experience • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, including styles, templates, cross-references, tables of contents, and track changes • Advanced proficiency with Adobe Acrobat Pro, including PDF creation, bookmarking, form fields, and Section 508 accessibility • Proficiency with Microsoft PowerPoint, including workflow diagrams and organizational charts • Demonstrated experience maintaining a document, policy, or knowledge library with disciplined version control • Ability to conduct independent research, validate source authorities, and summarize findings clearly • Exceptional proofreading and copy-editing skills, with strong command of grammar, usage, and a recognized style guide • Stakeholder-engaging, service-oriented approach to fielding research requests • Ability to work well within Teams • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive data • Ability to manage multiple concurrent document actions in a fast-paced environment • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fully remote setting • Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain and maintain a favorable CBP suitability determination • Preferred: Prior experience supporting CBP, DHS, or another federal law enforcement or homeland security organization • Preferred: Familiarity with federal policy document types and agency policy lifecycle and review processes • Preferred: Experience with routing sheets, staffing packages, or comparable government concurrence workflows • Preferred: Experience with SharePoint and web content management systems • Preferred: Working knowledge of Section 508 / WCAG accessibility requirements • Preferred: Experience researching statutory and regulatory authorities, including U.S. Code, CFR, executive orders, and agency directives
