📋 Description

• Own product-layer coordination and people leadership across engineering • Manage engineers directly through 1:1s, growth, hiring, and performance management • Lead teams working across platform, data, and support functions • Discover and prioritize modernization, migration, optimization, unplanned technical, and partner integration work • Maintain long-term data and data-pipeline health • Triage and coordinate inbound requests for reporting tools • Ensure production issues, incidents, and partner-facing technical escalations are triaged, owned, and resolved • Hold regular 1:1s and foster team growth, engagement, and alignment • Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching • Participate in headcount planning, hiring, and career development • Guide team goal-setting and support Tech Leads with technical decisions and project plans • Maintain and prioritize Jira backlogs across Tech Stream, Data, and Primary Tech Support • Lead technical scoping conversations and sequence initiatives • Translate internal stakeholder requests into prioritized work • Represent technical functions in cross-functional meetings • Align technical roadmaps with Product teams • Communicate project status, blockers, and decisions to the organization • Guide architecture and design decisions and advise stakeholders on system and feature trade-offs • Research problems, debug critical systems, and review code • Refine development standards and processes • Guide experimentation and integration of AI tools and AI-powered workflows • Evaluate AI and automation opportunities and coordinate initiatives through delivery • Help teams adopt AI-assisted development responsibly in line with compliance and data-handling requirements • Report to the CTO

🎯 Requirements

• Experience managing engineers directly, including hiring, performance reviews, career development, and 1:1s • Proven ability to own a technical backlog and make prioritization trade-offs across competing demands • Experience planning and prioritizing modernization and migration efforts • Comfort working across multiple technical functions, including infrastructure, data, and application development • Strong communication skills to translate technical work for nontechnical stakeholders and business context for engineers • Experience coordinating across teams with competing priorities • Clear, structured written and verbal communication • Ability to write actionable engineering tickets and understandable stakeholder updates • Experience guiding teams in adopting AI-assisted development tools or workflows • Experience with partner or third-party integration work • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis • Position is not eligible for employment-based visa sponsorship, now or in the future • Candidates must currently reside in the United States • Current resume and cover letter required; applications lacking a cover letter will not be reviewed • Nice to have: experience in a startup or mission-driven organization • Nice to have: familiarity with edtech, healthtech, or similarly regulated/complex product environments • Nice to have: exposure to compliance or data privacy requirements such as SOC2, CJIS, or HIPAA
