• Serve as a strategic liaison between business units and Information Technology • Ensure technology solutions align with organizational goals and operational needs • Build strong, collaborative relationships with business and technical partners • Evaluate relationship health and business partner satisfaction • Drive continuous improvement of BRM practices and engagement approaches • Advise organizational leadership and influence business partners up to the President and C-Suite level • Formulate IT Services and Solutions strategies and road maps with business partners • Define and prioritize technology initiatives that deliver business value • Identify innovative uses of technology to improve revenue, costs, efficiency, and operations • Facilitate communication between business partners, technical partners, and IT leadership • Manage expectations of multiple business partners • Plan IT changes and communicate their relevance and impact to business operations • Define, agree to, and report on key service metrics • Act as an escalation point for major service-delivery issues • Develop and monitor service improvement plans with service owners • Support planning and approval of new services between business and IT leadership • Shape technology demand and shepherd ideas through the demand management process • Facilitate business cases for presentation to senior leadership • Provide transparency into the demand pipeline, prioritization, and decision outcomes • Ensure idea requirements are understood, documented, and approved • Monitor demand management metrics and identify process improvements • Understand departmental business activities, processes, strategies, technologies, and IT services • Advocate for business partners and map IT road maps to business strategies • Influence business and technology partners across organizational levels • Address differing agendas, political considerations, and resistance to change • Monitor industry trends, competition, future direction, and technology expectations
• 3–5 years of Business Relationship Management experience • 5+ years in a management-level role in IT, program management, or a relevant business domain • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant business or technology discipline • Experience working in a business-facing IT organization and partnering with business partners • Experience collaborating with Presidents, Senior Vice Presidents, and C-Suite management • BRM certification desired • Ability to influence senior leadership and act as a trusted business advisor • Ability to prioritize and execute effectively under pressure • Experience in team-oriented, collaborative environments • Strong interpersonal, influencing, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills • Ability to communicate complex issues clearly, concisely, and persuasively, verbally and in writing • Adaptability and flexibility in changing situations and priorities • Experience facilitating end-to-end engagement and business outcomes • Experience facilitating discussions around business-process modeling • Excellent understanding of one or more business areas and the IT organization • Knowledge of core business processes and operations • Knowledge of strategic technology use to optimize business objectives • Ability to communicate complex business requirements to technology teams • Ability to communicate technology fundamentals to business teams • Ability to communicate appropriately across management levels • Ability to construct impactful business cases
