📋 Description

• Appraise material damage claims and total losses as received by assignment • Negotiate claim settlements and dispose of salvage within authority • Arrange vehicle inspections with repair shops, policyholders, or claimants • Photograph damaged areas and write estimates on claims when necessary • Determine rental needs and control costs according to company guidelines • Negotiate repair costs with repair shops • Establish values and settle total losses • Handle salvage disposal within authority • Distinguish cause of damage for appropriate policy coverage • Issue settlement checks and maintain appropriate records • Establish rapport with agents and claims adjusters • Contact policyholders and claimants regarding complaints from the original adjustment • Attend appropriate training sessions • Handle assigned material damage claims • Evaluate antique and classic cars for coverage value at Underwriting’s request • Serve catastrophe duty, including possible short-notice travel to other locations for periods exceeding two consecutive weeks

🎯 Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required • Two years of experience in a body shop or general claims handling, or completion of a formal ERIE training program, required • Must live in the assigned territory unless a change is approved by the company • Willingness to obtain and maintain any required licenses • Valid driver’s license and good driving record required • Must serve catastrophe duty, including possible short-notice travel to other locations for periods exceeding two consecutive weeks • Completion of General Insurance program preferred • Strong organizational skills • Ability to use required personal protective equipment (PPE) • Ability to move over 50 lbs using lifting aide equipment • Ability to perform climbing/accessing heights occasionally • Ability to lift/move 0–20 lbs frequently and 20–50 lbs occasionally • Ability to push/pull and move wheeled objects or equipment often • Ability to perform manual keying, data entry, computer use, and information inputting occasionally
