📋 Description

• Exercise independent discretion or judgment in handling all types of property claims • Conduct investigations, interviews, and damage inspections, driving to damage sites within the assigned territory or elsewhere as required • Prepare estimates, make recommendations, handle coverage questions, and manage litigation • Set and maintain reserves; review reports and related materials; direct experts; determine coverage and claim value; issue or decline payments; negotiate claims with plaintiff attorneys when necessary • Document claim files and submit reports for closure • Recognize subrogation situations and initiate appropriate action • Service the assigned territory and bring assigned claims to conclusion • Interact with agents and district sales managers on matters of mutual concern • Assist the claims supervisor or act on their behalf, including representing the company at legal proceedings when required • Complete industry-related training and attend continuing training on policy changes, interpretation, and new legislation • Assist in training new claims adjusters • Participate on the Catastrophe Team when required • Maintain regular and predictable attendance

🎯 Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED and five years of claims handling experience, or equivalent required; or Bachelor’s Degree and two years of claims handling experience, or equivalent required • Incumbent must live in the territory assigned unless a change is approved by the company • Willingness to obtain and maintain any required licenses • Successful completion of Associate in Claims (AIC) program preferred • Valid driver's license and good driving record required • Ability to serve on the Catastrophe Team, including possible short-notice travel to other locations for periods exceeding two consecutive weeks • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required • Ability to move over 50 lbs using lifting aide equipment • Ability to climb/access heights • Frequent driving, lifting/moving up to 50 lbs, and manual keying/data entry/computer use
