📋 Description

• Develop and lead engagements with state and local governments • Coordinate with global strategy and internal business, legal, policy and compliance, and communications teams • Build and sustain Expedia Group’s public policy operations in California and the North America region • Engage elected officials and community partners at the state and local levels • Identify and respond to regulatory challenges and opportunities • Read and develop legislative language and policy memoranda with internal team support • Track proposed legislation and administrative actions and update internal teams on potential business impacts, passage, and implementation dates • Lobby and advocate for Expedia Group’s public policy positions with state legislative and executive branches and local officials • Lead government relations resources, including contract lobby teams, political contributions, sponsorships, and partnerships • Serve as a policy and advocacy issue-area expert across the company • Draft and deliver testimony, blog posts, and other communications content with the Public Affairs team • Build partnerships with industry and grassroots coalitions and policy allies

🎯 Requirements

• Experience in public policy, community organization, media and communications, and advocacy strategy development and implementation • Understanding of local and state government processes and structures • Ability to read, understand, and communicate public policy language fluently • Strong written and verbal communication skills • Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders to create and advance lobbying and advocacy strategies • Ability to prioritize multiple sophisticated projects under time constraints • Experience developing strategies for difficult communications and legislative challenges • Ability to make high-level recommendations and strategic decisions
