📋 Description

• Lead and develop the general Network Engineering team across routing and switching, cloud networking, network security, network visibility, and monitoring/observability. • Own operational delivery, service health, continuous improvement, priorities, work allocation, milestones, SLAs, and customer expectations. • Coach employees, manage performance, support career development, hiring, and retention. • Evaluate emerging networking, cloud, security, and observability technologies and drive adoption. • Serve as escalation point for complex technical and operational issues. • Coordinate architecture decisions, major incidents, and high-risk changes with senior engineers. • Partner with program management, security operations, cloud, infrastructure, and other service tower leads. • Manage customer and partner stakeholder relationships and represent Network Engineering in reviews and governance forums. • Drive capacity planning, resource forecasting, and technology investment coordination. • Maintain documentation, runbooks, knowledge transfer, monitoring coverage, and operational readiness standards. • Support audit and compliance activities. • Promote automation, infrastructure-as-code practices, and modern operations.

🎯 Requirements

• BA/BS or equivalent experience • 5+ years of progressive experience in enterprise network engineering and operations • People leadership or technical management experience overseeing network engineering teams • Experience in managed services, government, or large enterprise environments • Strong hands-on and architectural knowledge of Cisco routing and switching • Experience with modern routing protocols, switching fabrics, and network design • Practical experience with AWS, Azure, and GCP cloud networking, including VPCs/VNets, transit architectures, hybrid connectivity, and cloud-native services • Working knowledge of next-generation firewalls and SASE platforms, including Palo Alto Networks technologies • Familiarity with microsegmentation, policy analysis tools, and WAF technologies • Experience with enterprise network monitoring and observability platforms such as SolarWinds, ScienceLogic, NetBrain, ThousandEyes, ExtraHop, or Gigamon • Strong understanding of ITIL/ITSM, change management, and operational governance • Track record of evaluating and introducing networking, cloud, or observability technologies • Experience leading complex transitions, migrations, technology refreshes, or multi-domain network transformations • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including senior-level briefings and status reporting • Strong people leadership and coaching skills • Proven ability to drive operational excellence and continuous improvement • Cisco certification (CCNP/CCIE) or equivalent routing and switching experience • Palo Alto Networks certification (PCNSE/PCSAE or higher) or equivalent platform experience • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret or higher security clearance • U.S. citizenship required • Louisiana residency required for the remote work model • Candidates more than 60 miles from GDIT's Integrated Technology Center in Bossier City, LA follow a remote work model • Less than 10% travel required • Must complete identity verification using biometrics and be on camera during virtual interviews
