📋 Description

• Lead, coach, and develop a 12-person multidisciplinary team across data engineering, analytics engineering, data science, machine learning engineering, and data support • Set technical direction for Kard’s data platform and improve scalability, reliability, maintainability, and organizational usefulness • Increase automation and self-service while reducing manual workflows and recurring operational work • Partner with Engineering and Product to integrate data, analytics, and machine learning capabilities into products and production systems • Ensure go-to-market teams have timely access to accurate, actionable data • Convert recurring stakeholder requests into durable, scalable capabilities • Establish priorities, ownership, and delivery practices across platform, product, analytical, and operational work • Guide architectural decisions and technical tradeoffs across pipelines, analytics systems, production models, internal tooling, and data services • Build an accountable team through expectations, feedback, career development, hiring, and cross-disciplinary collaboration • Report to the Director of Data & Platform; shape team structure, technical direction, and investment priorities

🎯 Requirements

• Experience managing a technical team working across data engineering, analytics, data science, machine learning, or related software engineering disciplines • Technical depth to assess system designs, review code and implementation approaches, and guide experienced engineers and data practitioners • Working fluency across modern data platforms, data modeling, pipelines and orchestration, analytics systems, machine learning lifecycles, cloud infrastructure, and production software practices • Record of improving technical platforms, automating manual processes, and creating scalable systems • Experience managing a team handling platform work, product development, stakeholder requests, and operational responsibilities • Strong judgment in balancing reusable capabilities with immediate business needs • Ability to partner with Engineering and go-to-market teams • Experience setting expectations, managing performance, supporting career growth, and developing senior technical individual contributors • Communication and organizational skills to operate autonomously while maintaining alignment with company and engineering leadership • Commitment to fostering an inclusive work environment and contributing to team growth and cohesion • U.S. core business hours availability and willingness to travel for company meetings • Bonus: Experience with fintech, payments, card-linked offers, loyalty, or transaction-intensive products • Bonus: Experience operating production machine learning systems or integrating models into customer-facing products • Bonus: Experience with high-volume batch and real-time data systems • Bonus: Familiarity with Databricks, dbt, AWS, Kubernetes, and Terraform
