• Develop and drive the strategic vision for the extraction and formulation group • Lead initiatives to improve extraction technologies, filling and formulation processes, and operational efficiency • Direct multi-site operations across extraction and formulation facilities • Provide thought leadership on cannabis extraction, filling and formulation trends and technologies • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and maintain safety standards • Partner with product development teams on new extracts, edibles, and concentrates • Design, pilot, and implement new technologies at scale with R&D and engineering • Monitor emerging technologies and recommend process and product-quality improvements • Establish best practices, SOPs, and facility standards for extraction processes • Drive continuous improvement to optimize throughput, yields, and efficiency • Build and lead a team of functional leaders and experts • Oversee recruitment, training, and performance management • Foster collaboration and continuous learning across extraction, operations, and corporate teams • Oversee complex multi-site extraction and formulation projects, ensuring timely and budget-aligned delivery • Collaborate with senior R&D, engineering, quality, and operations leaders • Report to executive leadership on project progress, extraction performance, and strategic opportunities • Follow safety, GMP, biosecurity, sanitation, record-keeping, and quality requirements
• Master’s degree in biology, chemistry, or engineering required; doctoral degree preferred • 15+ years’ experience in operations, research and development, or engineering in cannabis • Prior experience formulating consumer products • Ability to plan, design experiments, and solve problems • Ability to troubleshoot, fix, and service a wide range of equipment and software independently • Knowledge of laboratory best practices and sanitary design • Advanced math skills • Detail-oriented with superior organizational skills • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Familiarity with OSHA guidelines for hazardous chemicals • Understanding of applicable federal, state, and local laws, safety regulations, municipal codes, organizational rules, and SOPs • Must pass any and all required background checks • Must remain compliant with legal and company regulations for working in the industry • Must possess a valid driver’s license • Must be at least 21 years old • Must be approved by a state badging agency to work in the cannabis industry
• Competitive base pay of $200,000–$240,000 USD per year • Potential eligibility for a discretionary annual incentive program driven by organization and individual performance
