📋 Description

• Serve as chief technical architect and visionary leader for the Mobile App Renovation Strategy (MARS) • Define the future of a high-performance, modular, and intelligent mobile ecosystem • Lead cross-functional feature and platform teams in building next-generation architecture • Establish, steer, and inspire the AI Tiger Team • Drive AI-first software development and influence use of artificial intelligence throughout the SDLC • Lead portfolio-level Principal meetings for alignment, consistency, and knowledge sharing • Create and architect reusable foundational code elements across a portfolio • Develop proofs of concept with new technologies and enable portfolio adoption • Monitor cloud resource usage and drive cost reduction opportunities • Escalate and resolve highly complex technical challenges and high-priority issues or outages • Present at and attend conferences • Provide leadership, mentoring, coaching, performance reviews, and development feedback to direct reports • Attract, retain, develop, and motivate top talent • Define technology solutions and roadmaps with a Distinguished Engineer • Unify strategy across local teams and remove roadblocks across large cross-functional initiatives • Drive thought leadership and innovation • Answer questions from project, product, and support teams • Resolve technology disputes across local teams • Work with vendors to identify and implement software product enhancements • Evangelize successful tooling and technology usage • Report to senior technology leadership and manage 4–6 direct reports • Travel overnight as required

🎯 Requirements

• Must be eighteen years of age or older • Must be legally permitted to work in the United States • Expertise in at least two technologies used by THD IT • Experience with common business processes used in the retail industry • Experience in Agile/Lean development environments • 7 years of relevant work experience • Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree in a related field • Typically requires overnight travel less than 15% of the time • Preferred: 10+ years of software engineering experience • Preferred: at least 4+ years leading architecture in a Principal or Senior Principal capacity for a major consumer-facing mobile application • Proven track record of executing a major technology renovation or modernization strategy, preferably containing SDUI, KMP, and GraphQL BFF elements • Expert knowledge of microservices, server-side GraphQL patterns, and high-performance, multi-layered JVM in-memory caching • Practical, hands-on experience using GenAI APIs, LLM prompt engineering, and code-generation tools/agents • Outstanding communication and presentation skills • Proven history of writing technical white papers, presenting architecture to executive leadership, and driving technical alignment across organizations of 50+ engineers • Proficiency in Kotlin Multiplatform, Server-Driven UI, Android, Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, iOS, Swift, UIKit, SwiftUI, GraphQL, GraphQL Federation, Netflix DGS, Spring Boot 3.5, Java 21, REST APIs, microservices, SearchNav, ProductGateway, TypeAhead, JUnit 5, XCTest, MockK, Espresso, XCUITest, Paparazzi, Shot, Bitrise, Fastlane, TestFlight, Firebase App Distribution, SAST, DAST, New Relic, GCP Cloud Monitoring, Prometheus, distributed tracing, Contentful, Adobe Target, and centralized remote configuration
