📋 Description

• Lead and develop a team of transmission line engineers, designers, and technical specialists • Manage staffing, recruiting, hiring, workload forecasting, and resource allocation • Oversee transmission line engineering project delivery safely, on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards • Provide technical leadership and strategic direction for complex transmission line projects • Serve as a senior technical resource for staff and clients • Establish and improve engineering standards, QA/QC processes, and operational workflows • Own utilization, backlog management, staffing forecasts, revenue targets, profitability, and department financial performance • Partner with project managers and business leaders to monitor performance, manage risks, and resolve resource constraints • Build relationships with utility clients, contractors, and industry partners • Support pursuits, proposals, scope definition, contract negotiations, and client satisfaction initiatives • Identify business growth, service expansion, and market development opportunities • Champion safety, quality, compliance, and professional development programs

🎯 Requirements

• B.S. in Electrical, Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Power Engineering (or related field) • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure • 12+ years of experience working with an electric utility, EPC, or engineering consulting firm • 10+ years of transmission line engineering experience (design, analysis, modeling, or similar) • Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams, project portfolios, resource planning, and financial performance • Project management experience with transmission projects ranging from 4kV-500kV, WBS, critical path, EV, SOV, milestone and change management methodologies • Proficiency in PLS-CADD and transmission line engineering industry software tools and principles • Ability to travel for client presentations, field visits, industry conferences and project reviews • Preferred: Stakeholder coordination involving permitting, environmental, ROW, planning, procurement, geotechnical and constructability considerations • Preferred: Recruiting, developing, and retaining engineering talent • Preferred: Business development, client relationship management, and delegation of engineering tasks • Preferred: Proficiency in PLS-POLE, L-PILE, and/or MFAD • Preferred: Working knowledge of NERC, FERC, NESC, ASCE, IEEE, ANSI, FAC-008, and FERC Order 881 • Preferred: Engineering standards, QA/QC programs, and continuous improvement initiatives • Preferred: Consulting business operations, utilization management, revenue forecasting, and departmental financial performance • Preferred: Line routing, structure spotting, structural analysis and design, foundation design, hardware selection, conductor and shield wire selection, material specifications, and construction support • Preferred: Developing client proposals, T&M and fixed fee scopes of work, risk registers, schedules, and client onboarding requirements
