📋 Description

• Review medical records to identify pertinent diagnoses and procedures for patient healthcare encounters • Assign Evaluation & Management (E/M) levels for facility and professional emergency room encounters • Assign principal and secondary CPT codes and associated charges for emergency room procedures and injections/infusions • Apply appropriate CPT modifiers based on hospital, payer, or state guidelines • Abstract appropriate information from medical records according to client guidelines • Request physician clarification for ambiguous or conflicting documentation • Participate in Coding Roundtables by presenting materials, articles, and current coding and Health Information Management issues • Maintain current knowledge of Coding Clinic, CPT Assistant, and Official Guidelines for Coding and Reporting • Maintain effective and professional communication • Contribute to a positive company image through professionalism, adaptability, and mutual respect

🎯 Requirements

• CPC or COC coding credentials required • 3+ years of experience coding Facility-HB outpatient charts, including ancillary, clinic, and emergency department charts • Experience coding ancillary charts using ICD and CPT • Experience coding clinic charts using ICD, CPT, and E/M codes • Experience coding emergency department charts using ICD, CPT, E/M, injection, and infusion codes • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, surgical technology, pharmacology, and disease processes • Extensive knowledge of CPT coding principles and guidelines • Knowledge of reimbursement systems and federal, state, and payer-specific documentation, coding, and billing regulations and policies • Passing score on the coding proficiency test required
