📋 Description

• Partner substation engineers with AI and automation teams to build substation co-engineering solutions • Develop project strategies and ensure good engineering practices • Leverage AI to perform substation engineering work faster and more efficiently • Execute substation physical and protection and control design projects • Perform quality control checks on design projects • Read and design substation drawings, including one-line, three-line, schematic, wiring, plan-section, conduit, and grounding drawings • Create and check bills of materials • Create and check project estimates and schedules • Provide project lifecycle support from scoping through final design and implementation • Implement client standards in designs • Work with designers/drafters to create required project drawings • Provide construction support • Occasionally attend customer site visits • Maintain compliance with project scope, schedule, budget, quality control, and safe work practices • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and CAD technicians on the design team

🎯 Requirements

• Candidates must be located in the United States; preferred to be in the Central Time Zone • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related degree • Four (4+) or more years of related substation design experience • Experience executing both substation physical and protection and control (P&C) projects • Ability to explain why projects should be designed in particular ways • Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with internal substation and software teams, clients, engineers, designers, and CAD technicians • Ability to perform quality control checks on substation physical and P&C design projects • Ability to read and design one-line drawings, three-line drawings, schematics, wiring, plan-section drawings, conduit, and grounding drawings • Ability to create and check bills of materials, estimates, and schedules • Knowledge of client standards and their implementation • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure • Ability to work independently and in a team environment • Sound engineering judgment and ability to explain engineering rationale • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills • Engineer Intern (EI/EIT) certification, preferred • Professional Engineer (PE) License, preferred • Working knowledge of protection and control design, preferred • Experience with bus calculation, relay settings, grounding studies, lightning protection and lighting studies, AC and DC calculations, WinIGS or CDEGS, CAD tools, and field testing/commissioning, preferred • Master’s degree in a related field, preferred
