📋 Description

• Supervise day-to-day team operations for the medical underwriting team • Manage evaluation of medical underwriting requirements and risk selection for group accounts • Evaluate risks and determine approval or rejection on complex cases and second signoffs • Maintain knowledge of current and emerging medical underwriting practices and present new trends and information • Administer medical underwriting rules and guidelines, application quality audits, and insurance laws and regulations • Provide training, development opportunities, stretch assignments, and feedback to team members • Support change management and departmental or enterprise initiatives • Hire, train, develop, and retain staff • Build organizational capability and serve as a resource to team members and stakeholders • Build professional relationships with internal and external partners, including distribution and project management partners • Incorporate Quality Assurance and Training recommendations into employee development and performance measurement • Carry out duties in compliance with state and federal regulations and company policies • Remain current in professional and industry trends and suggest improvements • Perform other duties as required

🎯 Requirements

• Medical underwriting expertise • 4 Year/Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience; 4 years of experience in lieu of Bachelor's • 5+ years of risk management experience • Substantial background in medical underwriting group coverages • 2+ years of managerial, supervisory, and/or demonstrated leadership experience • FALU (Fellow Academy of Life Underwriting) preferred • FLMI (Fellow Life Management Institute) preferred • Group/employer insurance experience preferred • Ability to comply with state and federal regulations and company policies • Ability to remain current in professional and industry trends
