📋 Description

• Lead the end-to-end migration of enterprise data platforms from AWS to GCP • Assess AWS architecture, data pipelines, workloads, dependencies and operational processes • Define target-state GCP architecture, migration roadmap, phases, dependencies, risks and rollback strategies • Lead architecture reviews and technical design discussions • Architect and implement scalable GCP Data Lake and Lakehouse platforms using Google Cloud Storage and BigQuery • Define Bronze, Silver and Gold/Atomic data layers and scalable ingestion, transformation and consumption frameworks • Analyze and optimize AWS data platforms and map AWS services to equivalent or improved GCP services • Architect real-time pipelines using Pub/Sub, Dataflow/Apache Beam, BigQuery and Cloud Storage • Design high-volume event ingestion, enrichment, transformation, monitoring, logging and alerting • Design and implement batch and real-time ETL/ELT pipelines using Python, PySpark, SQL, Dataflow/Apache Beam, BigQuery and dbt • Design CDC and real-time ingestion patterns and orchestrate workflows with Cloud Composer/Airflow • Design enterprise analytics and reporting data models, including dimensional, normalized, denormalized and multi-tenant models • Optimize BigQuery partitioning, clustering, SQL, query execution, Dataflow, Spark, Cloud Storage and streaming workloads • Establish data governance, quality, lineage, metadata, ownership, security and compliance standards • Implement IAM, least-privilege access, encryption, service accounts, network security and data access policies • Lead Terraform infrastructure automation, CI/CD, testing, deployment and provisioning across Dev, QA, UAT and Production • Develop FinOps, performance optimization, cost optimization strategies, benchmarks and SLAs • Lead, mentor and technically guide Data Engineers, Senior Data Engineers and Technical Leads • Conduct architecture and code reviews, define roadmaps and priorities, and track progress, risks, dependencies and milestones • Act as primary technical contact for US-based stakeholders and collaborate with Business, Product, Data Science, BI and DevOps teams • Translate requirements into scalable solutions and present architecture decisions, migration strategies, roadmaps, risks, timelines and trade-offs

🎯 Requirements

• 15+ years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Architecture or Cloud Engineering • 5+ years of hands-on GCP Data Engineering experience • Strong hands-on experience with AWS Data Engineering and Architecture • Proven experience working on AWS-to-GCP migration projects • Strong experience designing enterprise Data Lake / Lakehouse platforms • Experience migrating AWS data workloads to GCP • Strong knowledge of AWS and GCP service mapping and cloud migration patterns • Expert-level SQL and strong Python/PySpark skills • Strong data modeling and data warehousing experience • Experience with Terraform and CI/CD • Experience managing and mentoring data engineering teams • Strong communication skills with experience working with US-based stakeholders • Ability to assess AWS workloads, define the GCP target architecture and lead migration through production implementation • Strong knowledge of AWS services including S3, Glue, Glue Data Quality, Redshift/Redshift Serverless, Athena, Step Functions, DMS, Lake Formation and IAM • Strong knowledge of GCP services including BigQuery, Google Cloud Storage, Pub/Sub, Dataflow/Apache Beam, Cloud Composer/Airflow, Dataproc/Spark, Cloud Monitoring, Cloud Logging and Dataplex/Data Catalog • Experience with ETL/ELT, CDC, batch and streaming data processing, event-driven architecture and data pipeline optimization • Expertise in enterprise Data Lake/Lakehouse, Medallion Architecture, data modeling, dimensional modeling, multi-tenant data modeling, schema-on-read/schema-on-write, data lineage, metadata management and data governance • Experience with dbt, Apache Airflow, Terraform, Git/GitHub, Cloud Build, CI/CD and data quality frameworks • OpenLineage is a plus • Experience as an Engineering Manager in the GCP platform; current Senior/Lead Data Engineer profiles are not suitable
