• Assist with establishing and maintaining site systems and standards for managing geotechnical risks, including procedures, processes, and databases • Review development mining instructions and stope designs and recommend requirements for safe extraction • Ensure compliance with Company and statutory requirements • Regularly review and update Ground Control Management Plans • Conduct geotechnical evaluations and risk assessments, and make recommendations to manage hazards • Collect and analyse geotechnical data related to potential and actual rockfall events • Identify, assess, and implement business improvement opportunities • Engage regularly with site personnel to determine specialist geotechnical requirements • Provide support, guidance, and professional development opportunities to Graduate Geotechnical Engineers • Support technical and operations teams on short-, medium-, and long-term projects, ensuring geotechnical risks are considered and managed • Build effective communication and networks with the Mining Department • Assist with daily, weekly, and monthly reporting of mine geotechnical parameters • Provide and monitor training opportunities through an objective, fair, consistent, and non-discriminatory process • Review employees’ training requests/applications based on objective evidence • Document employee readiness to train and operational scheduling constraints • Maintain departmental employee training records • Monitor the training register and log formal training • Participate in reviews of employee appeals concerning training opportunities • Perform other duties as required
• Degree majoring in Mining Engineering or an equivalent field • Computer literacy, including Microsoft Office Suite • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally across all levels • Current driver’s licence • Ability to pass a background check and post-offer physical • Minimum 2 years’ experience in the mining industry, predominantly underground hard rock in a geotechnical engineering role • Good analytical skills and practical application of geotechnical knowledge • Working knowledge of underground mining methods, including longhole open stoping, air leg stoping, and jumbo stoping • Foundational experience in numerical modelling • Advanced knowledge of Deswik Design Software, Map3D Numerical Modelling Software, Rocscience Software Suite Phase 2 and 3, Dips, Unwedge, and Microsoft Office Suite • Strong professional report writing skills • Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices • Awareness of Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA) Act and Regulations • Ability to work a 15-day-on, 13-day-off rotating schedule, up to 12 hours per day or more, at a remote campsite • Ability to work in extreme and changing weather, dust, mud, varying noise and light levels, and confined work areas • Employees must stay on site at the company-provided camp during the work rotation • Visa sponsorship is not available
