• Contribute clinical and scientific perspectives to the local execution plan and coordinate field activities • Build, cultivate, and leverage relationships with key scientific and medical customers and organizations across the territory • Engage Key Influencers, Local Practice Leaders, Key Decision Makers, healthcare providers, and patient advocacy groups • Contribute to ecosystem strategic business planning and regional business strategy customization • Provide evidence-based clinical, economic, and humanistic information about Otsuka and its products • Build internal working relationships across the matrix team and execute local medical strategies • Lead special projects and incremental point roles within Field Medical Affairs • Disseminate disease-state and healthcare-landscape information to field customers • Provide clinical and data-focused training for promotional and disease-state speakers • Serve on the speaker bureau to support product educational needs • Collect and submit medical insights to inform decision-making and evidence-generation priorities • Assist with clinical trials, investigator-sponsored trials, health economic outcomes research, and medical collaborations • Provide clinical expertise and feedback on clinical-trial operations, site selection, and performance • Mentor peers, new hires, and functional or therapeutic development programs • Support Safety & Pharmacovigilance, Sales Training medical education, and the Field Medical Center of Excellence
• MD/DO, PharmD, or PhD in life sciences required • Previous training or experience as an MSL supporting Nephrology programs or in other medical affairs roles in the pharma/biotech industry, or equivalent combination of education and experience • Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical industry Medical Affairs • Experience working with healthcare professionals and other decision makers • Deep understanding of health systems and patient care delivery • Strong business acumen and knowledge of Otsuka’s business model, value proposition, competitors, and marketplace dynamics • Excellent communication and collaboration skills • Strong conflict resolution skills • Ability to lead others and project teams strategically • Ability to communicate complex information and business objectives concisely and effectively • Strong understanding of industry legal, regulatory, and compliance landscape • Ability to work in an ambiguous environment undergoing transformation • Business travel by air or car, up to 70% of the time depending on territory size • Preferred living location is a key city in the territory
