📋 Description

• Act as an architect within the Orders Platform team and set technical direction for order modeling, storage, replication, and reconciliation • Design and build event-sourced and replicated-state systems resilient to retries, network partitions, concurrent edits, and partial failure • Partner with Product, Payments, Reporting, point-of-sale, and mobile engineering teams to ship reliable ordering flows end to end • Review designs and code, mentor engineers, and build team fluency in distributed-systems patterns • Improve observability, replay, and recovery to identify and resolve order-state problems quickly while minimizing costs • Reduce bus-factor risk by sharing context and documenting the platform • Own and evolve the core Orders Platform that takes, tracks, and settles restaurant orders reliably, including during internet outages

🎯 Requirements

• Hands-on experience with event sourcing, CRDTs, or comparable approaches to replicated and offline-first data • Experience with idempotency, optimistic concurrency, event replay, projections, and reconciliation • Ability to reason about node disappearance during operations and design for partial failure • Ability to learn specialized technology quickly and improve its robustness • Staff-level experience leading technical direction while remaining hands-on with code • Clear written and verbal communication • Experience building correctness-critical distributed systems • Backend experience in payment or ordering systems preferred • Ability to partner with payments and reporting teams while owning the order side of money-moving flows • Willingness to work directly with restaurants, including in-person visits and phone/text communication • Experience in restaurants, retail, or IT ideally, but not required • Must be currently and permanently based in the United States or Canada • Must address visa sponsorship status
