📋 Description

• Lead and grow a team of senior and staff-level platform engineers • Set expectations, provide direct feedback, and maintain team execution • Guide technical direction across infrastructure, shared services, and system design • Partner with staff engineers on architecture and technical tradeoffs • Ship platform initiatives from planning through production • Define and improve platform health, including performance, resiliency, cost efficiency, and operational maturity • Build on-call and incident practices with SRE • Triage reactive work while maintaining strategic priorities • Partner with AI platform and security teams on observable, cost-aware, and secure AI infrastructure • Support adoption of AI-assisted development tools and workflows • Shape the roadmap with the Lead Product Manager • Translate strategy into buildable, well-scoped plans • Represent platform engineering across teams and drive alignment on multi-team initiatives • Provide leadership updates on progress, risk, and technical investment • Partner with security and legal on security, privacy, compliance, and student-data obligations

🎯 Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 5+ years managing engineers, ideally on platform, infrastructure, or developer experience teams • Track record of managing and growing senior and staff-level ICs • Technical credibility with senior and staff engineers • Hands-on AWS background strongly preferred • Terraform and Kubernetes a significant plus • Proven success partnering with a product counterpart to deliver on a shared roadmap • Experience building alignment across engineering, security, and operations • Delivery and scope discipline • Developer experience focus, including CI/CD, internal tooling, and self-service infrastructure • Experience with security and compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 and FERPA • Strong command of data protection and privacy practices • Experience with monitoring and observability at scale • Familiarity with infrastructure demands of AI workloads • Experience helping engineering teams adopt AI-assisted tools and workflows • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is a plus
