📋 Description

• Manage and grow a team of up to 10 engineers • Ensure each team member understands how their work aligns with the engineering vision and benefits partners • Cultivate an inclusive, high-trust culture aligned with Murmuration and engineering values • Manage performance directly and early with support from the director and people team • Participate in candidate vetting and hiring processes • Own sprint planning and Scrum ceremonies • Lead retrospectives focused on team learning and improvement • Oversee Explorer’s software development lifecycle to ensure a robust, stable, secure, and maintainable platform • Create project plans with other technical leaders • Provide technical project management to deliver team goals • Identify process and technical challenges and propose solutions • Partner with product management on the Explorer roadmap, prioritization, and scoping • Manage multi-month initiatives and competing priorities • Coordinate parallel workstreams and collaborate with engineering, product, design, research, data, and partner success teams • Communicate updates and risks clearly to technical and non-technical audiences

🎯 Requirements

• 4+ years of management experience on a high-performing software engineering team, including performance management and individual development • Technical depth sufficient to review designs, ask the right questions about architecture and tradeoffs, and earn the trust of experienced engineers • Production experience with AWS • A track record of leading delivery through ambiguity and keeping a team steady and productive through it • A track record of coaching with a multiplier effect • Demonstrated commitment to building inclusive, high-trust, high-performing teams • Experience partnering closely with product management on roadmap, prioritization, and scoping • Belief that how we build is just as important as what we build • Familiarity with Voter File Data (nice to have) • Experience with or interest in political data (nice to have) • Background in political tech, civic tech, advocacy, or mission-driven organizations (nice to have)
