📋 Description

• Lead, coach, and support a team of 5–8 software engineers building Ruby on Rails services and React frontends • Own team well-being, performance, and immediate output • Plan and allocate daily and sprint work • Monitor progress against delivery schedules and keep projects on track • Troubleshoot obstacles, clarify requirements, and coordinate handoffs across engineers, teams, and vendors • Triage bugs and production issues to minimize customer disruption • Maintain coding, QA, code review, testing, and documentation standards • Give real-time constructive feedback and run regular 1:1s • Celebrate team milestones and recognize individual contributions • Own onboarding and skill development for new team members • Identify and introduce team-level process improvements • Escalate unresolved or higher-impact issues to senior engineering leadership • Champion responsible use of AI-assisted development tools for coding, testing, documentation, and debugging • Uphold secure, ethical, and resilient engineering practices • Partner with Product, Customer Success, and external vendors to deliver reliable work

🎯 Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software development experience • 2+ years managing or formally leading a software engineering team • Working familiarity with Ruby on Rails, React, AWS, and PostgreSQL • Familiarity with API management, cloud computing, DevOps practices, and software design • Technical acumen to guide discussions and evaluate trade-offs • Proven track record of reliable team delivery, coding and QA standards, timely task completion, and dependable schedules • Strong problem-solving skills • Exceptional collaboration and communication with engineers, non-technical stakeholders, and external vendors • Experience onboarding and developing engineers • Sound judgment about resolving issues locally versus escalating • Adaptability and commitment to continuous learning • Strong understanding of information and data security fundamentals • Ethical, customer-centric approach to decisions • Comfortable using AI tools and guiding a team in coding, testing, documentation, and learning • Nice to have: hands-on Rails, React, or full-stack engineering background • Nice to have: AWS and Azure production workload experience, CI/CD, and automated deployment practices • Nice to have: experience with third-party or vendor teams • Nice to have: resilience planning, incident management, or on-call processes • Nice to have: distributed/service-oriented systems and asynchronous event-driven communication • Nice to have: experience introducing AI agents or automated AI tooling
