• Provide Antiviral therapeutic area/product expertise through engagements with priority external medical stakeholders, such as healthcare professionals, in the assigned territory • Lead and support field medical initiatives and early engagement work for assigned Life Cycle Management clinical programs • Represent the FMD role on assigned LCM clinical study teams and propose early engagement activities • Train FMDs on compliant engagement with clinical trialists and LCM protocol knowledge • Recommend and secure approval for medical content and materials used with contracted clinical trialists • Mentor FMD colleagues supporting clinical study teams • Develop processes to track, measure, and characterize the impact of early engagement work • Plan and execute independent medical strategies and engagements with external medical stakeholders • Respond to unsolicited medical requests with truthful, accurate, scientifically supported information • Educate stakeholders on disease states, guideline-based care, and patient care gaps • Identify potential sites for Pfizer-sponsored clinical trials, including sites serving under-represented patient populations • Support Investigator Sponsored Research processes • Serve as a medical resource to headquarters Medical Affairs, Field Medical colleagues, investigators, and researchers • Deliver insights on patient organization structures, capabilities, and population needs • Serve on medical, therapeutic-area, and asset cross-functional committees • Represent Pfizer Medical Affairs with clinical/professional associations and societies • Develop medical educational content strategy and execute aligned Field Medical tactics • Maintain scientific communication and collaboration with Medical Affairs, Medical Information, and Field Medical colleagues • Conduct live, virtual, written, telephone, and other scientific communications • Incorporate health literacy and cultural awareness principles into medical communications • Operate in accordance with Pfizer policies, procedures, and compliance guidance • Achieve leadership-defined expectations for the number of external medical stakeholders • Collaborate with R&D, Global Medical Affairs, Global Product Development, and other cross-functional partners
• Bachelor’s degree in health science required • PharmD, PhD, or equivalent terminal doctoral degree highly preferred • PharmD/PhD with 7+ years of experience, MBA/MSc with 10+ years, or BA/BSc with 12+ years of experience • Significant field medical experience planning and conducting early engagement activities with clinical trialists • Ability to operate as a senior leader and influence outcomes without direct authority • Strong strategic thinking, executive presence, analytical rigor, and communication skills • Subject matter expertise recognized across internal and external stakeholders • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills • Ability to manage stakeholder demands and handle conflict constructively • Ability to manage significant project volume in a remote environment, prioritize, implement successfully, and exercise sound judgment • Ability to work within a matrixed, multidisciplinary team • Ability to lead and manage change in an evolving healthcare environment • Change agility and adaptability to new therapeutic areas and organizational change • Problem-solving and enterprise-wide networking skills • Collaboration, leadership, and teamwork skills • Self-starter with accountability, urgency, and results orientation • Clinical and technical skills • Ability to rapidly adopt and use digital technology and resources and record medical interactions • Familiarity with internal and external SOPs, rules, and regulations regarding medical stakeholder interactions preferred • Previous Field Medical experience preferred • Current Antiviral FMD role and at least 3 years of antiviral FMD experience with a track record of field medical innovation preferred • Ability to operate a Pfizer company car and regularly fly on airplanes • Flexibility to travel 40–50% of the time and proximity to an airline hub city • Valid U.S. driver’s license and driving record compliant with company standards • No DUI/DWI or other impaired-driving citation within the past 7 years • Must be authorized to be employed in the U.S. by any employer • Permanent work authorization in the United States required • U.S. work visa sponsorship is not available now or in the future
