📋 Description

• Lead the team that architects, builds, and operates Reddit’s Notifications Platform/Foundations • Set technical direction for notification APIs, eventing, workflow orchestration, delivery pipelines, preferences, templates, experimentation, and observability • Collaborate with adjacent Notifications ML teams to build and productionize ML-powered notification systems • Partner with product and engineering teams to define platform contracts, improve developer experience, and enable safe, efficient launches • Drive the full development lifecycle: design, develop, test, deploy, operate, and continuously improve highly available services • Establish reliability, scalability, performance, privacy, security, and operational excellence practices • Build and maintain a diverse, cross-disciplinary engineering team • Align team plans with company goals alongside product and upper management • Communicate team work and expectations with cross-functional stakeholders • Support engineers’ career goals and development plans

🎯 Requirements

• 2+ years of experience building and managing engineering teams • 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer or Engineering Manager building and operating large-scale distributed systems or platform services • Deep understanding of distributed systems, service-oriented architectures, event-driven systems, and APIs in production • Experience with highly available, low-latency services and operational excellence practices • Experience with cloud infrastructure, data storage, streaming or messaging systems, and observability tooling • Experience setting technical direction for platform teams and balancing consistency, extensibility, and team autonomy • Entrepreneurial and self-directed, innovative, results-oriented, and biased towards action in fast-paced environments • Ability to communicate complex topics with technical and non-technical audiences • Ability to tackle ambiguous and undefined problems
