📋 Description

• Design, administer, and optimize enterprise MySQL database platforms • Engineer and maintain replication, backup and recovery, high availability, and disaster recovery solutions, including regular recovery testing • Develop production-quality code and automation for database provisioning, deployments, upgrades, patching, maintenance, and monitoring • Build and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Terraform through GitHub and GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines • Define and track SLOs and implement monitoring, alerting, and dashboards for database health and performance • Lead production incident response, root-cause analysis, and blameless postmortems while implementing preventative solutions and self-service automation • Use GitHub Copilot tools to support coding, troubleshooting, testing, and documentation while reviewing AI-generated output • Troubleshoot issues across databases, Linux, Kubernetes, networking, storage, and cloud infrastructure • Partner with application teams on schema design, query performance, capacity planning, and safe database changes • Lead database modernization initiatives, including migrations to cloud-native architectures and managed services • Collaborate with software engineering, SRE, networking, and infrastructure teams

🎯 Requirements

• Expert knowledge of MySQL administration, replication, backup and recovery, high availability, and performance tuning • Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills across databases, infrastructure, networking, and cloud environments • Ability to develop, test, and maintain production-quality code and automation using Python, Go, Java, C#, PowerShell, Bash, or similar languages • Hands-on experience with Terraform and Infrastructure as Code, Git workflows, GitHub, and GitHub Actions • Experience managing databases in cloud environments; Microsoft Azure experience is preferred • Working knowledge of SRE practices, including SLOs, observability, incident management, postmortems, and automation • Hands-on experience with AI-assisted engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot CLI, Copilot app, or Copilot in VS Code, including reviewing and validating AI-generated output • Strong networking fundamentals, including DNS, TCP/IP, load balancing, firewalls, SSL/TLS, and virtual networking • Experience supporting databases on VMs or Kubernetes and/or building AI-assisted or agent-driven automation workflows is preferred
